The 5th Bimblers Bluff 50k will take place on on October 21st, 2012 and registration is now open via Active.com or mail-in application. The Bimblers Bluff 50k is an off road foot race through several inter-connected woodland preserves in southern Connecticut. Consisting entirely of rolling forest roads or single track that can be extremely rocky, the course will provide a true test of the runner’s fitness and mental stamina. You should only consider entering this race if you are confident you have sufficient running experience such as having completed a recent road or trail marathon. If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to complete this race but would still like to enter, please contact the race director. The course inter-connects seven woodland properties and offers access to the Genesse Preserve where entry is normally restricted to Regional Water Authority permit holders. After running the Bluff 50k I knew I wanted to keep doing ultras, just didn't know which one. Loopy recommended Promise Land 50k and I was intrigued. While I am not sure a 10k race will help Shelly Girl and I complete Vermont in a few months the Leathermen's Loop signified the end of the second phase of our training. A Leatherman’s Loop Race Report

Mostly Cloudy and Cool around 50.
This is a special day in trail running where about 1200 runners will run The Loop around Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, New York. This is the largest trail running event around. I have run this coarse two times before in 2009 and 2010. I was very excited this year to be able to participate.
